Oiva Toikka
New for 2021 and limited to only 300 and each mouth-blown, every iittala Toikka Snow Grouse is as special as its namesake snowflake. This Toikka bird commemorates FinnFest 2020 in Joensuu, Finland, which had to be postponed due to Covid-19. The design feels pure, bright, and hopeful with a snowy white background and equally wintry blue swirls. A clear head keeps this mouth-blown glass bird minimal and modern with the classically Finnish color palette.
Oiva Toikka is one of the greatest names in Finnish design. His iconic collection of Iittala glass birds first took flight in 1972. Inspired by nature and Toikka’s passion for blown glass art, each bird is a unique art object. Handcrafted and mouthblown at the Iittala Glass Factory, the collection embodies a rich fusion of glassmaking traditions and Toikka’s hands-on-approach with his master craftsmen.
